When I met a new academic for coffee, I was surprised to hear that he’d helped discover a breakthrough gene therapy treatment halting the debilitating effects of Cystic Fibrosis (CF).

Dr Aris Tagalaki’s work hadn’t been publicised in the media before, so I tracked down a mum whose two young children have CF to tell her about his research and ask if she would be involved in our publicity. I then arranged an exclusive story on ITV News before the story was covered across the media. It also resulted in the mum talking about Cystic Fibrosis in a number of national newspapers.
