I joined the UK volunteering charity when it was called Community Service Volunteers (CSV), a name which no longer reflected its work.

As Head of Communications & Marketing I led a complete rebrand process that saw CSV change its name to Volunteering Matters ‘…leading UK volunteering in policy and practice.’ The process with Spencer du Bois agency involved all strategy, stakeholder engagement, a new website, corporate video, social media channels, collateral, press and PR etc.

The rebrand was shortlisted for a Third Sector Excellence Award, and within a year the charity’s unrestricted income doubled; there was a 36% increase in the number of people supported by volunteers; five lottery grants worth £5m were secured; and 81% of staff said they were happy with the brand and that it helped them explain the role of the charity.
